We are at last back into the Sanctuary. The altar has been replaced, but is still not in place as a couple of minor floor covers need to be put in before the altar is rolled back over them. You won't see the difference when it happens as it is only a matter of a foot or so.
The throw rugs will not be replaced as they have caused some to trip over them. It is better this way.
The Divine Mercy banner has been placed on the wall rather than the flimsy stand on which it hung for years always tipping over on the nearest unsuspecting soul who passed too close.
The spotlights were done away with as they could not create the proper effect. If you look at this week's photo and compare it to last week's you will see three small "lines" in the ceiling star in last week's photo. These were the spotlights. Even though they detracted from the beauty of the star this was not the reason they were done away with. The light they cast onto the wall statuary was too harsh so the feeling was the existing light was more than sufficient to illuminate the wall.
Another change to the ceiling can be seen in the comparison of the two photos. Last week's photo shows the edge lighting as a bluish white where-as this week's photo shows a yellowish edge lighting and that is the change -- a softer look.
Plastic diffusing panels were added to the star itself. Again, compare the two photos and you can see not only the change in color but a softer look to the star.
Joe Hreso has found a local fabricator for the railings. He is in the process of getting those designed and orderd. How long this will take has yet to be determined.
The pendant lights are still an issue, and at this time it is questionable if they will be ordered. However, it is not a dead issue yet.
One last remark: cleaning of the pews has been scheduled for October 5th. So if you like sitting up front be aware that those pews are a bit dusty.
